Petty wars continue to splatter in the NBA. These days, when many are just cooped up at home, a petty war is the best kind of war, really. Just open up Twitter and then BOOM! There it is. Oh look, there's another one. In fact, even a savvy veteran like JJ Redick is participating. Sort of.

It has been reported that Redick didn't appreciate how he was discarded by the New Orleans Pelicans at the NBA trade deadline. He was shipped to the Dallas Mavericks even though it wasn't really part of his verbal agreement with the squad. So, after the Pelicans got eliminated from postseason contention on Wednesday, Redick did what every responsible, well-disciplined, classy adult would do: Unleash the petty!

Redick was caught liking a tweet on the Pelicans' failure to qualify for the NBA Playoffs after the Mavericks beat them on Wednesday, 125-107.

It's quite clear that Redick enjoyed the schadenfreude, with the Pelicans forced to pack their bags early. Redick didn't play on Wednesday though, so he did his personal contribution via Twitter. It might be more serious than simple petty retribution.

The 36-year-old Redick previously said Pelicans boss David Griffin “did not honor his word” in shipping him to the Mavericks. The sweet-shooting guard said Griffin promised to put him in a favorable situation where he would be closer to his family in Brooklyn. Alas, it didn't happen.

It has been a sorry season for the Pelicans despite Zion Williamson's breakout campaign and the continued development of Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram. JJ Redick, however, hasn't any beef with his former teammates. So no petty wars with 'em for sure.
