According to the official BIG3 Twitter account, NBA champion point guard Mario Chalmers has joined the league's Season 3 draft pool:

Chalmers played nine seasons in the NBA but remained unsigned after playing in 66 games for the Memphis Grizzlies last season. In Memphis last year, he averaged nearly eight points, three assists, and just over two rebounds on over 21 minutes per night.

The former University of Kansas legend was drafted by the Miami Heat in 2008 following a national title with the Jayhawks. Chalmers hit a game-tying three in the 2008 national championship game against the Memphis Tigers, paving the way for KU's most recent national title. He made the NBA All-Rookie Second Team after averaging 10 points and nearly five assists per game.

Chalmers was also the starting point guard for the Miami Heat in separate championship seasons in 2012 and 2013, when Miami's own “Big Three” took the league by storm. Despite garnering a reputation as a good defender and distributing guard, Chalmers often was viewed as the “little brother” by LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.

Chalmers then lost the starting job after the breakup of the “Big Three,” and was eventually traded to the Grizzlies in November of 2015.

After establishing himself as a serviceable sixth man, Chalmers tore his Achilles in March of 2016 and was promptly waived by Memphis. He missed the entire 2016-17 season before returning for a second stint with the Grizzlies last year, but his time in the league was effectively over.

BIG3 is a professional 3-on-3 basketball league that was founded in January of 2017 by rapper Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz. The league's collection of personnel includes numerous NBA legends and journeymen.
