Report: Celtics monitoring availability of Thunder’s Danilo Gallinari

Thunder, Danilo Gallinari, Celtics

The Boston Celtics are monitoring the availability of Oklahoma City Thunder forward Danilo Gallinari with the trade deadline less than a month away, according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

Gallinari becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer. He’s making $22,615,559 this season with the Thunder:

While Danilo Gallinari of the Oklahoma City Thunder isn’t a power player, he’s a legitimate scorer at 6’10”, and he’s another guy Boston has monitored, per an NBA source.

The Thunder acquired Gallinari from the Los Angeles Clippers in the blockbuster Paul George trade. He’s averaging 18.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game this season while shooting 42.3 percent from the field, 39.2 percent from beyond the arc and 89.1 percent from the free-throw line.

The Celtics are 25-10 on the season, which is good for third place in the Eastern Conference standings. Boston already has Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Gordon Hayward at the swingman spot, but in today’s NBA, you can never have enough forwards who can stretch the floor with their shooting.

If the Thunder fall out of the playoff mix out West and don’t trade Gallinari before the February trade deadline, the franchise will look to sign-and-trade him in July.
