Jimmy Butler has been the hottest topic of discussion in the NBA over the past week following his decision to request a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves. After just one season with Tom Thibodeau, Butler is unhappy with his situation and has already been rumored to be interested in playing for quite a few different teams.

Among those teams are the Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, and Miami Heat. At this point in time, there have been no serious reports about which team is the front-runner to acquire Butler.

One team can be marked off the list of potential suitors for Butler. According to a report from Keith Smith of RealGM, the Boston Celtics have shown no interest in pursuing a trade for Butler.

Boston not getting involved should be a surprise to no one. Danny Ainge went out and acquired two stars last offseason in Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward. The franchise also has Al Horford, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown on the roster that they have no interest in trading.

Thinking about a potential Butler to Boston blockbuster is intriguing, to say the least. Unfortunately, the Celtics would be forced to give up either Tatum or Brown and plenty more talent in any such deal.

On paper, the Celtics appear to be the team to beat in the Eastern Conference with LeBron James now with the Los Angeles Lakers. Boston will have tough competition in teams like the Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Indiana Pacers, but they have more depth and talent than all three of those teams.

Standing pat and keeping their current roster is the right decision for the Celtics. Count Boston out when it comes to the Butler sweepstakes.
