The Boston Celtics' young duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown is quickly becoming one the best and most exciting tandems in the league today. The star power of the “ice and fire” duo was certainly evident in the Celtics 129-117 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday.
Brown and Tatum spearheaded a Celtics offensive explosion that negated 30 points from Cavaliers forward Kevin Love. With their strong play lately, Brown and Tatum have endeared themselves even more to Celtics fans. However, one of the duo's biggest supporters is teammate Enes Kanter.
Shooting a combined 24-of-40 (60 percent) from the field, the Celtics young duo had perhaps their best games of the season so far. After the win, Kanter, who finished with 14 points and nine rebounds himself, praised his young teammates for their ability to make the rest of the team better.
With All-Star Weekend quickly approaching, Kanter went on to remind fans to vote for both Tatum and Brown. In their fourth and third seasons respectively, Brown and Tatum have both yet to make an All-Star appearance in their careers.
Article Continues BelowThis season has served as a bit of a breakout for both players. Brown, who finished Friday's win with a career-high 34 points, came into the game averaging 20.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game on impressive efficiency.
Tatum scored 24 of his 30 points in the first half on Friday. The 6-foot-8 forward is averaging 21.3 points and 7.2 rebounds.
Brown's performance marked the fourth-year pro's second 30-point game in as many games while Tatum has two such games in the Celtics last three contests.
With the win, Boston improves to 22-7 on the season and trail only the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference.
