Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum acknowledges how the coronavirus could potentially affect some of the top teams in the East, as his C's, the Raptors, and the Bucks could be impacted by this hiatus.

“[The hiatus] will help the teams that have had guys injured. It'll definitely give them a lot more time. I think of teams like Toronto or Milwaukee who were winning. I think Toronto had won like 15 games in a row and now it's like it's stopped,” said Tatum during a conversation with Jeff Goodman of Stadium. “Now you have to pick up where you left off. It's hard to start again.”

The Celtics star nails it here. The hiatus is hurting teams (and players) who were on a roll the most.

Momentum is very real in professional sports and the long-term hiatus for all of these leagues will reset any stride these teams had heading into the postseason.

The Bucks, Raptors, and Celtics still hold the top three places in the East, but upon restarting the season, it will be like a brand new season opener all over again.

Tatum was on a roll of his own since he grew out a full beard, shooting over 50% from the field and 40% from deep. All of that stride will be lost upon taking on the last few games of the regular season.

All of this is inevitable at this point, as all the teams will have that equal disadvantage. Strong teams should be able to weather the storm and gear into the best version of themselves in the postseason, even with this unfortunate halt to the NBA season.
