This past Saturday, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum left early during his team's loss against the Orlando Magic as a result of a shin contusion and proceeded to miss the rest of that game and the final game of the regular season.

However, the injury does not seem to be too big of a deal, and Tatum is expecting to play in Game 1 of the Celtics' first-round playoff series against the Indiana Pacers this weekend, according to Jay King of The Athletic.

Tatum played in 79 games this season, averaging 15.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals over 31.1 minutes per game while shooting 45 percent from the floor, 37.3 percent from 3-point range and 85.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The 21-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at Duke University, was originally selected by Boston with the third overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft.

He had a terrific rookie campaign, registering 13.9 points, 5.0 boards and a steal across 30.5 minutes a night while making 47.5 percent of his field goal attempts, 43.4 percent of his long-distance tries and 82.6 percent of his foul shots.

Tatum then went on to have a magnificent playoff run in helping lead the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals, recording 18.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals through 35.9 minutes per game, connecting on 47.1 percent of his shots, 32.4 percent of his triples and 84.5 percent of his free throws.

The 2018-19 regular season was a disappointing one overall for Boston, as it won just 49 games and earned the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference when most expected the C's to win 60 games going into the year.
