Boston Celtics big man Enes Kanter has had the best seat in the house in terms of watching Jayson Tatum’s rise to stardom in the NBA.
Kanter says Tatum, who made his first All-Star team this season, just keep getting better and better seemingly every month for the Celtics:
"I’ve never seen a player improve so much in one month. Like what happened? … Sometimes we’ll look at each other on the bench like, ‘Did he really make that shot?’"

Tatum has appeared in 54 games for the Celtics this season. He’s averaging 23.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 45.3 percent from the field, 39.8 percent from beyond the arc and 82.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge is starting to look really smart for not trading Tatum for some of the superstars who have requested trades over the past few seasons, that’s for sure.
The Celtics have a good shot at winning the Eastern Conference this season. For that to happen, Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown, Tatum and Gordon Hayward all have to play at a high-level once the playoffs start.
The game has clearly slowed down for Tatum, who is scoring very efficiently this season. The Celtics are pleased to see that Tatum and Walker have meshed so easily this season. Walker said one of the reasons he signed with Boston was because he was wanted to play with Tatum.
The Celtics lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the playoffs last season. Boston will likely have to get through Milwaukee to win the East this time around. A seven-game series between the Celtics and Bucks would surely be fun to watch.
