Former Boston Celtics center Kendrick Perkins gave his stamp of approval on his former squad's plan to sign Kemba Walker when the free-agency period begins on Sunday night.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Celtics are now the frontrunners in the race to sign Kemba Walker this summer. Perkins, who spent the first eight seasons of his NBA career with the Celtics, took to Twitter to express his thoughts on Boston's impending acquisition of Walker.
@celtics you got my approval on Kemba! 💉💉💉

Celtics general manager Danny Ainge has reportedly secured a meeting with Walker and agent Jeff Schwartz on Sunday. Boston is expected to offer a four-year deal worth $141 million, which the 29-year-old point guard is expected to accept outright.
Walker previously expressed strong desire to remain in Charlotte, where he has spent his first eight seasons in the league. However, the Hornets are reportedly unwilling to offer a supermax deal to the former University of Connecticut standout because of Michael Jordan's reluctance of paying taxes next season.
In Boston, Walker will likely take the place of Kyrie Irving, who is expected to sign elsewhere this summer. Walker, a three-time NBA All-Star, is coming off the best season of his career. The New York native averaged career-highs 25.6 points, 5.9 assists, and 4.4 rebounds in 82 games last season.
