The Chicago Bulls have been a completely different team since Nikola Mirotic’s return. They are 9-2 in the 11 games with Mirotic back in the lineup and are suddenly just six games back of a possible playoff spot in the East.
Because of the impressive run they're on, Mirotic believes the team as currently constructed is actually capable of making a run at the postseason if it’s allowed to stick together.
Mirotic is also confident that if Gar/Pax decide not to move anybody at the deadline, the Bulls will be right there in the playoff hunt at the end.

The Bulls front office, or anyone else for that matter, likely didn’t think this Bulls team would be anywhere close to playoff contention this season, especially after trading away Jimmy Butler and buying out Dwyane Wade.
Management was determined to start the rebuilding process which required the team to be bad enough to land a top pick in the draft. However, the team’s current winning run has actually hurt their chances of getting that precious high draft pick for the time being.
While it would be interesting to see just how high this ragtag group of players might go, it’s highly unlikely that the front office will keep them together, especially if they keep winning.
It’s in the franchise’s best interest in the long term to maximize their odds of landing top prospects with star potential starting this year. If that means potentially selling off assets like Mirotic to ensure they are bad enough to draft as high as possible, then so be it.
