Brad Stevens and the Boston Celtics took Game 1 over the Philadelphia 76ers in a convincing fashion, 101-117. But for the head coach, there are still things they can improve upon.

Per Ben Golliver of Sports Illustrated, Stevens said that he's not satisfied with the team's defense:

“I didn't think it was as good as any of the last three Milwaukee games. We have to clean up quite a bit.”

The Sixers shot at a decent 42.2 percent from the field, but a horrendous 19.2 from downtown. From Stevens' comments, it seems like he wants to completely dismantle the Sixers' offensive infrastructure. In the regular season, the Celtics ranked first in defensive rating with 101.5. The Utah Jazz were behind them with a 101.6 rating.

In the playoffs, on the other hand, the Celtics haven't seemed to find their stride just yet. They are number 10 in offensive rating with 106.9. Whether Stevens was looking at the stat sheets or just plain observation, he is definitely on cue. The Celtics have a lot to improve on defense and are very capable of doing so.

Per Joshua Schrock of NESN.com, Stevens noted that defending the Sixers is like a balancing act:

“I think that you’re just going to have to balance that as the series goes on,” Stevens said. “(Embiid) can get 31 in isolation, but if you’re doubling him an everything else, are you giving up 33 because you’re leaving shooters? It’s a fine line, it’s a balancing act. That’s what makes it really hard to play these guys because they are so talented and they find the hot guy.”
