Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker is confident he will make the city his home for the long haul, expressing his willingness to remain with the team during Monday's media day.

“This is where I want to be. I don't want to be nowhere else,” said Walker, according to Steve Reed of The Associated Press. “I want to create something here.”

Walker was previously the subject of trade talks last season, as former general manager Rich Cho hoped to shed some of the overpaid salaries on the roster, having doled out hefty amounts to their entire starting lineup, including Nicolas Batum, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and Dwight Howard.

The Bronx native would be used as the pot-sweetener on the deal, thanks to the lone $12 million owed to him. That position fell through as quickly as Cho's job did, when he was relieved of his duties shortly after the trade rumors went viral.

Walker was rumored to be one of the Cleveland Cavaliers' main targets, hoping to improve a hollowed-out roster with LeBron James shouldering the load. The interest slowly degraded as the trade deadline approached, ultimately disintegrating after James left Cleveland in the summer.

Walker was linked to his home state of New York, but nothing has materialized with the New York Knicks or Brooklyn Nets. The Phoenix Suns have also reportedly inquired about Walker's services. His new partnership with head coach James Borrego should serve as a fresh start, already having put pieces in place to cement him as the franchise's cornerstone player.

The 6-foot-1 dynamo will be a free agent at the end of this season, setting up a big payday after being named an All-Star in the last two seasons.
