The Dallas Mavericks missed the services of Luka Doncic in their 107-104 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers due to an ankle injury. Things would've been different for the Mavs had their superstar guard suited up, but Doncic had to settle into being a spectator on Wednesday night.

After a certain turnover by the Lakers, Doncic was caught on camera signaling how the Mavs' opponents messed up that particular play.

Doncic is one of the league's best playmakers, so he knew exactly what the Lakers should've done to prevent the miscue. Anthony Davis eats lob passes for breakfast, and Wayne Ellington failed to realize that fact.

Then again, Ellington made up for his error by nailing the game-tying 3-pointer in regulation. His heroics in the clutch gave the Lakers another leash which set up the table for Austin Reaves' eventual game-winner.

It's safe to say that the Mavs' heartbreaking loss added vitriol to the fire burning within Doncic. He's already missed three-straight games, and his return date remains uncertain. With Doncic inactive, the Mavs will continue to rely on Jalen Brunson, Kristaps Porzingis, and Tim Hardaway Jr. to step up.

A win would've tied the Mavs with the Lakers at 15-14. Instead, Dallas got dealt with a 14-14 record compared to Los Angeles' 16-13 win-loss slate. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Mavs. They'll get an extended break before trooping to Minneapolis to face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Hopefully, Luka Doncic's status changes for the better by that time.
