Is LeBron James Playing vs Kings
So, is LeBron James playing tonight? LeBron missed eight games earlier this season with the ab strain. Overall, the 37-year old has missed 12 games of the 2021-22 NBA season — including two for ankle soreness and one for a suspension due to his scuffle with Isaiah Stewart. LeBron also missed the Lakers' last game in Sacramento, on Nov. 30, as a result of a positive COVID-19 test that forced him into two days of isolation then turned out to be a false result. He was not happy about the situation. Despite his absence, the Lakers won easily, 117-92.
LeBron has been listed on the Lakers' injury report as questionable or probable with the rectus abdominis strain for every game since he returned from his eight-game absence on Nov. 19. Considering he's listed as probable once again, there's a near-100% chance James will take the floor in Sacramento.
LeBron had been seen with his torso wrapped in a few postgame media sessions — he occasionally does them shirtless and with a towel before getting dressed — though the injury has not been a point of conversation for weeks. He nor the Lakers have commented on it since late November.

Not only has James not missed a game due to the ailment in nearly two months, but he's been particularly spry since then. LeBron has vaulted into the MVP discussion with a dominant two-way run of play. Over his past 18 games, the 19-year veteran is averaging 30.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.4 blocks on .553/.391/.800 shooting splits.

He's currently second in the NBA in points per game, trailing Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant. At 28.9 PPG, LeBron is averaging his most points since way back in 2007-08, and doing so while moving to small-ball center.
Wednesday's game will mark the fourth matchup between the two Pacific Division foes this season. On Nov. 26, Los Angeles lost to Sacramento, 141-137, in triple-overtime. One week ago, on Jan. 4, the Lakers soundly defeated the Kings, 112-114. LeBron dropped 31, 5, and 5 in the most recent clash.
