Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball is expected to miss the next four-to-six weeks with a Grade 3 left ankle sprain, but the former No. 2 overall pick initially thought his injury was much worse.

Lonzo Ball suffered the left ankle injury against the Houston Rockets on Jan. 19. The 21-year-old told local reporters on Saturday he thought he broke a bone in his foot, but is really glad that wasn't the case.

In 47 games this season for the Lakers, Lonzo Ball is averaging 9.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game while shooting 40.6 percent from the field, 32.9 percent from beyond the arc and 41.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Ball joins LeBron James on the team's injury report. Los Angeles is in a major funk right now. They are 25-24 on the season, good for ninth place in the Western Conference standings. The Lakers are just 5-10 since James went down on Christmas Day against the Golden State Warriors.

One positive is that Rajon Rondo is back in the lineup, which is huge since Lonzo Ball and LeBron James are going to be out for a while.
