It appears the NBA hiatus was a productive one for Los Angeles Lakers veteran point guard Rajon Rondo.

The former Boston Celtics star recently showed off his ripped body in a workout at the Lakers' practice facility, causing some Purple and Gold fans to speculate they might see “Playoff Rondo” once the 2020 postseason starts.

Dave McMenamin of ESPN shed some more light on Rondo's new physique during a recent appearance on ESPN LA 710’s “Mason & Ireland,” via Christian Rivas of SB Nation.

“If we want to keep going with this hype machine, I had a source tell me that, within the last week — seeing Rajon Rondo — quote, unquote, ‘He looks like he’s 21 years old again.' So, there is some positive momentum to this conversation.”

Rondo, who won the 2008 championship with the Celtics over the Lakers, has career playoff averages of 14.0 points and 9.3 assists with the Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Pelicans.

During the 2018 playoffs with New Orleans, Rondo put up 10.3 points and 12.2 assists in nine games. He led the entire postseason in assists per game and developed a great rapport with Anthony Davis, who just so happens to be on the Lakers with Rondo this year.

The Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference standings. Rondo was putting up 7.1 points and 5.0 assists for L.A. before games were suspended in March following Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert's positive COVID-19 test.

Once the 2020 playoffs start after the conclusion of the seeding games, the Lakers will be one of the favorites to win the title with LeBron James and Davis leading the charge.
