The NBA trade deadline is quickly approaching, as the final day for trading is March 25th. Spencer Dinwiddie of the Brooklyn Nets has been swimming around the rumor mill as a potential trade target for a while now. Even though he's been sidelined with an injury this season, he's still a solid player who can provide production once he returns next year.

It seems as though there is a rival team in the Eastern Conference expressing interest in the Dinwiddie, as the Miami Heat are reportedly seeking a trade for the seven-year veteran, per SNY's Ian Begley.

This would be a fantastic trade for the Miami Heat, as it would give them a ton of firepower for next season. Dinwiddie would serve as a solid guard that has the ability to play the point or shooting guard. He'd be a versatile player for Miami and would be a nice compliment to Jimmy Butler. The idea of having Dinwiddie, Tyler Hero, Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo in the starting lineup should make any Heat fan excited.

However, the Brooklyn Nets may not be interested in trading away Spencer Dinwiddie, according to Begley.

It is unknown if Brooklyn is open to trading Dinwiddie. If Dinwiddie opts out of the final year of his contract, the Nets would likely have to pay significant luxury tax penalties if they re-signed Dinwiddie to a deal commensurate with his market value.

The Nets are clearly in a position to win the NBA Finals this year, so the idea of trading Dinwiddie, an injured player who can't help this season, for a player who can provide depth to the roster makes sense. Miami has a few players on the team they could afford to let go, as they may send Duncan Robinson in a package to acquire Spender Dinwiddie.
