Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala went viral recently after saying that Rasheed Wallace would be better than Giannis Antetokounmpo if the Detroit Pistons champion played in the NBA today.

Of course that didn't sit well with a ton of fans, especially with Antetokounmpo having already established himself as a Top 75 player in NBA history at just 27 years old. He's a one-time champion, two-time MVP and one-time Defensive Player of the Year after all.

After the massive backlash that his comments prompted, Iguodala took to Twitter to clarify his take. For one, he emphasized that his remarks were in no way a knock on Giannis. He's not diminishing what the Milwaukee Bucks star has accomplished in his career, and he's not saying that Wallace would be great and Giannis wouldn't.

Basically, what Iguodala was trying to point out is that Wallace was super talented but wasn't able to fully showcase it because of the era he played in. For Iggy, he could have been greater and a Top-5 player in the NBA if he played in modern basketball.

“Appreciate the responses and respecting my takes to the point that we’ve made it on TMZ on a sports debate….. The take is not a knock but a testament to how great Giannis is! That’s how good Sheed was!!!…” Iguodala wrote.

Andre Iguodala's comment might be a bit of a hot take considering the comparison he made, though it is certainly worth pondering what Rasheed Wallace could have accomplished today.

Much like how fans debate about who is the better player in different eras, the level of competition, training, and style of play have always been part of the considerations.

Unfortunately for everyone, there is just no way to know exactly. With that said, perhaps Iguodala's take on Wallace will remain one of the biggest “What ifs” in NBA history.
