Nick Young is an L.A. guy.

He grew up within the area, went to high school school and college there, and even ended up playing for his hometown Los Angeles Lakers in 2013.

But Young decided to make a career-centered decision and signed with the Golden State Warriors this offseason. He got the chance to return to his hometown on Wednesday and visit his old arena, where he spent four years wowing — and at times frustrating — the Staples Center crowd.

Nick Young was ready for a warm welcome, but received something entirely different instead. The crowd booed the Warriors' shooter on several occasion, and he wasn't too thrilled about it, per Mark Medina of the Mercury News.

“I was a little hurt by these boos, man,” Young said. “L.A. ain’t got love for Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.”

Young is referencing a moment in 1995 when rapper Snoop Dogg and other members of Death Row Records were booed at an awards show in New York. Young is well-versed in West Coast rap lore, it would appear.

Nick Young had a tumultuous four years with the Lakers. There were times he played very well, and other instances where he would frustrate fans to high heaven.

But receiving boos when playing your former team is the norm in the NBA. Young likes to joke around, and it's safe to assume his feelings were not actually hurt when he heard his reception from the crowd.
