The No. 7 Duke Blue Devils blew out the Clemson Tigers by 18 points on the road Thursday, but there was a lot of drama thanks to a ridiculously dirty foul by Clemson guard David Collins against Duke's Wendell Moore Jr.
Late in the first half, Moore was streaking down the court for a fast-break dunk when Collins undercut him in the air. Moore went down hard in a scary foul:

Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski was absolutely livid (he later called the play “dangerous”) and players from both teams yelled at each other as chaos ensued. Collins was rightfully ejected from the game.
Naturally, Twitter went wild in reaction to this dirty foul:
This is one of the dirtiest and most dangerous plays I've ever seen in an organized basketball game. Leans with the shoulder, even. https://t.co/ZhGApUZ24o

This is the dirtiest play I’ve seen this season, maybe ever https://t.co/Pvo4iNpar9

This #Clemson player should get 2 choices. 1. Never be allowed to play college basketball again. 2. Fight the entire #Duke team at the same time after the game. pic.twitter.com/kJVKGBSaU2

Never before have I defended Duke but this is disgusting.
That Clemson kid should not be allowed to see the court the rest of the year https://t.co/W8Az1ZNfxa

Very curious to see how the ACC handles David Collins' actions tonight against Duke. ZERO place for in sports at ANY level.

There's plenty more where that came from, and it's justified. You know it's bad when people are feeling bad for Duke. That kind of play is totally unacceptable. Collins had zero chance of making a real play on the ball and had no business doing what he did. Perhaps there was no malicious intent there, but this was an obvious mistake that should get punished.
To his credit, Collins did take to Instagram after the game to explain himself and apologize for his actions:

But, again, even if Collins didn't mean anything by the play, it was still a dangerous one that could have really hurt the Duke forward. Luckily, it seems as if Moore is okay. He wound up playing 33 minutes in the 18-point victory that moved the Blue Devils to 20-4 on the season.
