The Brooklyn Nets will be without star point guard D’Angelo Russell for the foreseeable future after he hurt his left knee in the Nets’ 114-106 loss to the Utah Jazz.

Russell, 21, is having a fine debut season with the Nets. He's averaging 20.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.7 assists to lead a Nets offense ranked third in the league in scoring (110.6 points per game) despite losing Jeremy Lin for the season during the season opener.

Russell has already missed one game this season due to a knee injury and was not quite at his best in his first two games after returning. However, he had looked much better during his last handful of outings.

Backup point guard Spencer Dinwiddie missed the Jazz game due to a hamstring injury, but when he returns, he should be in line to take up most of Russell’s minutes.

Dinwiddie had 22 points, five rebounds, and six assists when he took Russell’s place in the starting lineup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He also had another 22-point outing a couple games later while Russell was still struggling.

After starting November with a grueling five-game Western Conference road trip, the Nets play their next three games at home against the Boston Celtics, the Jazz, and the Golden State Warriors.
