The Brooklyn Nets acquisition of Ben Simmons was met with a combination of joy, shock and derision, depending on the perspective of those analyzing the deal. Many have criticized Simmons for his attitude and how he handled the situation with the Philadelphia 76ers. Simmons will get a chance to rebuild his career following the debacle in Philly- and veteran Nets guard Patty Mills sent a fiery warning to the rest of the NBA about his new teammate, via ESPN.

“I see a real hunger-ness from him,” Mills said after Wednesday's shootaround. “His demeanor and his desire not only to get back on the floor, but make a significant impact — he's got a lot of, I believe, fire built up underneath him that has a desire to get back and be the player that he is, and even get better, and even grow and even develop. And that's one thing that I'm excited to be in the same room and locker room as him to do my part to help him develop and help him grow and help in any way possible there.”

Patty Mills said he “sees a real hunger-ness” from new Nets teammate Ben Simmons. Mills said he's excited to be in the same locker room as Simmons, who he says “has a fire” to not only help the team but grow and get better.

It's not surprising to hear Mills say this about Simmons, who has been listening to the noise from doubters and haters all season long. If he can channel that negative energy the right way, the Nets and the rest of the NBA could see a different Ben Simmons this year when he finally takes the court.
