The Brooklyn Nets' depth took a hit on Monday with the announcement that rookie Dzanan Musa suffered a left shoulder subluxation in Sunday's Long Island Nets game. Musa will begin rehabbing the injury immediately, and there appears to be no timetable for his return:

Musa, a 6-foot-9 shooting guard from Bosnia, was the No. 29 overall pick in the first round this past summer. The Nets drafted the 19-year-old with the knowledge that he would be a long-term prospect, and Musa has only made seven appearances on the NBA court so far this season. In those games, he has played just a total of 26 minutes while shooting 6-of-14 from the floor and 0-for-6 from 3-point range. Musa is averaging 1.7 points per game.

In the G League, however, Musa has received plenty of playing time. In 16 games, he has averaged 32.4 minutes, 20.1 points, and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting 37-for-104 from 3-point range (35.6 percent). Musa currently leads the team in points per game and is second in rebounding.

The Nets are just 13-18 this season, but they're one of the hottest teams in the league thanks to a five-game winning streak, which has them just two games back of the No. 8 seed. Brooklyn hasn't qualified for the playoffs since the 2014-15 season, and their last above-.500 season came the year prior, at 44-38. That was back when Jason Kidd was the head coach, and the core of the franchise featured Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez, the 36-year-old Paul Pierce, and the 37-year-old Kevin Garnett.
