The Brooklyn Nets are reportedly targeting a big man in the 2019 NBA Draft to complement/ back up starter Jarrett Allen, according to Ian Begley of SNY.

The Nets have the 17th overall pick in the draft, which is on June 20. They also have the 27th and 31st pick.

This year is the first time since the infamous Kevin Garnett-Paul Pierce trade with the Boston Celtics the Nets have a first round pick in the draft.

So it's impossible to even speculate which players may be available for Brooklyn on June 20. But there is one priority for the Nets on draft night: Per SNY sources, the Nets are targeting a big to complement/ back up starting center Jarrett Allen with one of their picks.

Allen's current backup, Ed Davis, becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. Brooklyn made the playoffs this season for the first time since 2015. They lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round in five games.

During the regular season, Allen averaged 10.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.5 blocks while shooting 59.0 percent from the field and 70.9 percent from the free-throw line. Allen is an up-and-coming big man in the NBA and the Nets are excited to see the next step he takes.

However, Brooklyn should get a good backup behind Allen so his usage isn't too high.
