New York Knicks fans are still salty that Kyrie Irving signed with the Brooklyn Nets.

Irving got booed at the Barclays Center by Knicks fans while he was at the free-throw line during the Nets-Knicks game:

Knicks fans thought Irving and Kevin Durant were going to sign with their franchise.

Instead, the two superstars took their talents to the Nets, breaking the hearts of Knickerbocker fans.

Both the Nets and Knicks had cap space this summer to sign two max contract players. Brooklyn got Durant, Irving and DeAndre Jordan. New York, meanwhile, didn’t even get a meeting with KD or Kyrie and ended up agreeing to deals with Julius Randle, Bobby Portis, Taj Gibson, Elfrid Payton, Wayne Ellington, Reggie Bullock and Marcus Morris.

The Knicks have been a walking disaster under the ownership of James Dolan. The Nets have officially become the big brother in New York City. The allure of playing in Madison Square Garden isn’t large enough for stars anymore since the Knicks are so dysfunctional.

Brooklyn is going to be a title contender next season once Durant returns from his Achilles injury. The Knicks, meanwhile, figure to be a bottom cellar team in the Eastern Conference since they lack star power.
