The city of Buffalo has been hit hard by snow over the past few days (just ask the Buffalo Bills), and that has continued as we progress through this week. After the Bills had their Wild Card round matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers postponed from Sunday to Monday, it's now the Buffalo Sabres (and Chicago Blackhawks) turn to have one of their games get disrupted due to the weather.

The Sabres were slated to take on the Blackhawks on Wednesday night, but the problem is that the city currently has travel restrictions in place due to all the snow they have received. With travel remaining unsafe for both teams, the league has opted to postpone the game to Thursday in an effort to keep both teams safe, while also allowing folks to clean up the city's roads.

“The NHL has postponed tonight's Sabres-Blackhawks game to tomorrow at 7 p.m. because of local travel restrictions in Buffalo due to a massive snowstorm.”

It's always better to be safe than to be sorry, and the NHL seems to have that same thought process when it comes to postponing this game. While they could almost certainly get both teams on the ice safely, it creates more of an issue when it comes to having thousands of fans on the roads trying to find their way to KeyBank Center.

Luckily, both teams won't have to wait long to make this game up, as the NHL just pushed the game back one day to give city officials in Buffalo an opportunity to clean up the roads before allowing fans to turn out in droves. Both teams will be looking to pick up a victory, which would make this delay well worth the wait.
