It could be a case of too little, too late for the Montreal Canadiens, who are on fire, but their fans have got to love the way the team is playing under new head coach Martin St. Louis.

The Canadiens went 0-3 in St. Louis’ first three games as the team’s interim head coach following the dismissal of Dominique Ducharme, but Montreal appears to have finally found its footing with the former 16-year NHL veteran calling the shots.

Montreal is now riding a four-game win streak after beating the Buffalo Sabres Wednesday night at home, 4-0. St. Louis spoke about the Canadiens' success after the contest and expressed the belief that it has something to do with a palpable shift in the Habs’ culture.

Via Eric Engels of Sportsnet:

“I have a lot of buy-in from the players,” said St. Louis. “There’s a lot of winners in this team — the guys who take care of the team a lot. You win a lot of games with guys like that. It’s 4-0 and we’re blocking shots with one minute left. It’s fun to see how quickly the culture has progressed.”

The Canadiens are third-worst in the NHL this season with a 98.1 PDO but they have turned it up in the past four outings, with a 109.4 PDO during that stretch.

The Canadiens will look to keep it going on Saturday when it kicks off a five-game road trip against the Ottawa Senators.
