It's been a minute since we last saw Earth's Mightiest Heroes team up on the big screen. After Avengers: Endgame, there wasn't much info yet if we were gonna get a new set of Avengers… Until now. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige teases answers about the core team in Marvel’s Phase 4.

Marvel Studios' Phase 4 will soon assemble the new Avengers and address the status of the core team after their disassembling in Avengers: Endgame. The founding members Iron Man and Black Widow are gone permanently after they sacrificed themselves to save the universe from Thanos. Hawkeye and Old Man Steve Rogers are retired. The mantle and star-spangled shield of Captain America have been passed on to Sam Wilson. Hulk and Thor, on the other hand, are positioned for new stories in the MCU's Phase 4.

“I think you will see that question addressed and people struggling with that very question within the MCU right now,” Kevin Feige told CinemaBlend when asked if the Avengers will be active in Marvel's Phase 4. “I think post-Endgame and Tony being off the board, and Steve Rogers being off the board, Sam Wilson is the new Cap, of course… what does it mean to be an Avenger? Is there a core team? Who's leading it? Who's financing it?”

“That is very much an undercurrent that, while not at the forefront of many of the current movies, is certainly a question that is lingering in the background,” Feige added.

Feige previously revealed that a new roster of remarkable people would take time to put together in a future Avengers film.

“I think we want there to be a reasonable amount of time from the Endgame to start a new saga, which is already underway and already started,” Feige told Collider. “And then you need time, as you did in Phase 1, to build that saga before you start bringing everyone together.”
