Somewhere out there, Antoine Walker is smiling. Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball tried an utterly unique defensive tactic against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night.

Safe to say, it didn't work.

LaMelo closed out on Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins who was wide open from the three-point line in the corner. But instead of challenging the shot, the Hornets guard unleashed what could only be described as a shimmy to distract Wiggins. As the commentators put it: “That's a different way to contest.”

What was more distracting, to be honest, was LaMelo's bright red kicks (via NBC Sports Bay Area).

As you saw, Wiggins made the shot as he got the lucky bounce. LaMelo might have to rethink his life decisions next time. After all, if there's one facet that the Hornets playmaker needs to improve on, it's his on-ball defense.

The Warriors rolled past the Hornets, 114-92, to improve to 6-1. LaMelo had a solid line of 14 points, five rebounds, eight assists, and four steals. He, however, struggled with his shot, hitting just 5-of-14 field goals. His backcourt mate Terry Rozier was even more atrocious from the floor, hitting just two of his 12 attempts.

LaMelo Ball and the Hornets dropped to 5-4 and will try to not shimmy their way back to the win column on Friday against the Sacramento Kings.
