New England Patriots wide receiver Braxton Berrios knows he is in a fight to make the roster, so he showed up to training camp early. According to Mike Reiss of ESPN, even though training cam doesn't start for everyone until July 24th, Berrios is already in Foxbourgh at Gillette Stadium.

Berrios was a sixth-round pick last season but spent all season on injured reserve and now has to go out and earn the spot.

Julian Edelman and N'Keal Harry are locks to make the roster at receiver, but after that, there are a lot of question marks.

The talks around Berrios this off-season is about how impressive he looked during the spring, and the expectation is that he can continue that success in training camp. With him missing last season, this is a good chance for Berrios to get extra reps, and maybe get on the good side of the coaches because they see just how good his work ethic is.

Reiss believes that Berrios could fill in a Danny Amendola type of role and that gives him a leg up on the competition.

Berrios, who can provide added value as a punt returner, would be on my initial 53-man roster projection as a Danny Amendola-type slot option based on his strong spring. He's arrived early as part of his attempt to seize a spot.

Phillip Dorsett, Dontrelle Inman, Maurice Harris, and Demaryius Thomas are all expected to also compete for the rest of the wide receivers spots and it should be one of the key areas to watch.
