The New Orleans Pelicans have two games this week before the NBA All-Star break, and superstar big man Anthony Davis will play in both of them.

Davis has played in two games since the trade deadline passed. He played 24:49 against the Minnesota Timberwolves and 33:58 against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Pelicans were told by the NBA that if they didn't play a healthy Davis, they would be fined $100,000 per game. Davis has requested a trade and will be moved in the summer.

New Orleans has 25 games left in the season. There are some around the league who actually believe the Pelicans should sit Davis and just take the fine, which would total $2.5 million if they sat him for the remaining 25 games.

Davis is worth more than $2.5 million. If he were to get seriously injured before the summer, the Pelicans would be in deep trouble, as AD's trade value would diminish.

When Jimmy Butler requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves at the beginning of the season, he played for Minnesota, but did sit out a few games here and there. What's interesting is that Davis played against the Grizzlies, which was the second night of a back-to-back.

Anthony Davis is averaging 29.0 points, 13.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game this season. The Pelicans are 25-32, 13th place in the Western Conference standings.
