2021 National League MVP Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies recently did an interview with Barstool Sports' baseball podcast “Starting 9.” Harper discussed a number of topics, including the most difficult pitchers to face in the National League. Naturally, he named Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer as the top two hurlers in the NL. He even compared deGrom to a video game.

“deGrom is a video game on the mound”

However, he named one other pitcher who may come as a surprise for many.

“I always put Strasburg up there because when he is healthy, he's nasty and people kinda overlook him a lot because sometimes he's not healthy, but if you look at the way he pitches, the way he goes about it, it's a tough at-bat.”

Bryce Harper and Stephen Strasburg were previously teammates on the Washington Nationals.

Strasburg has been decimated by injuries over the past couple of years. However, he played a pivotal role in guiding the Nationals to their 2019 World Series championship. He is a three-time All-Star who has finished within the top five in Cy Young voting twice. For his career, he has a 3.21 ERA with over 1,700 strikeouts.

Stephen Strasburg is once again dealing with an injury heading into 2022. The Nationals are hopeful that he can be ready to roll by May. He will look to revitalize his career and return to his All-Star form this season.

As for Bryce Harper, he is looking to post another MVP-worthy season while leading the Phillies to the playoffs.
