Ed Cooley and his Providence Friars are heading to the Sweet Sixteen round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament following a big win Saturday night against the upset-seeking Richmond Spiders. The Friars gave Richmond a sermon on both ends of the court for a 79-51 victory, and it's got Cooley all pumped up.

Following the game, Cooley spoke highly of the job Providence did on the court.

Via Jeff Borzello of ESPN:

It's hard to argue against what Cooley said of his team. Providence got hot on offense early, taking a 15-point lead with them to halftime. The Friars finished the game shooting 51.9 percent from the field and were unconscious from downtown. They went 12/22 from deep, while playing lockdown perimeter defense on Richmond. The Spiders shot only 39.6 percent and were a horrendous 1/22 from behind the arc. It's going to be hard to sustain that kind of shooting performance from the 3-point region for Providence, but at the same time, March Madness is where crazy things happen. Providence entered the game as a 34.3 percent shooting team from long range.

Now, Cooley and the Friars will be preparing for a much tougher test ahead of them. Waiting for them in the Sweet Sixteen round are the 1-seed Kansas Jayhawks, who just beat the team that defeated Providence in the Big East tournament — the Creighton Bluejays.
