The Washington Redskins are out of playoff contention for the second year in a row, and the team’s failure to improve is certainly not sitting well on quarterback Kirk Cousins, who said that he wants his team to develop a winner’s image, via John Keim of ESPN.

“I want this brand, this organization, to be associated with winning and when people around the league and our fans that support this league think about this organization, I want them to think of winners,” Cousins said.

The 7-8 Redskins would avoid finishing this season with a losing record if they beat the New York Giants this Sunday. If they don't, then they will have their worst record since 2014, when they went 4-12.

Cousins’ comments could also be taken as a hint of what he wants for his future. The gunslinger's one-year deal with the Redskins ends at the end of this season, but where he plays next isn’t entirely a decision that he has complete control of, as the Redskins could use the franchise tag on him for the third consecutive season.

Through 16 weeks of the 2017 season, Cousins has racked up 3,935 total passing yards with 27 touchdowns against 10 interceptions.

In any case, there won’t be a lack of teams going after Cousins once the free agency period rolls around with several teams probably looking to shore up their quarterback position.
