The L.A. Clippers have reportedly offered the general manager position to Oklahoma City Thunder executive Michael Winger, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Woj reported that the deal is expected to be finalized soon.

Winger, an assistant GM/team counsel for the Thunder, would report directly to new Clippers President of Basketball Operations, Lawrence Frank.

Winger, 37, has spent the past seven years with Oklahoma City, working closely with Executive Vice President and GM Sam Presti. He's developed a reputation as one of the league's most respected young executives.

Earlier this month it was announced that Doc Rivers would be leaving his front office role with the Clippers to solely focus on coaching.

The Clippers are entering a new era after the departure of Chris Paul this summer as their star point guard surprised many by choosing to sign with the Houston Rockets.

The challenge now is to build around their remaining stars in Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan and it looks like it will be Winger taking on the bulk of that burden as the team's new GM.
