There has long been speculation that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger could step away from the game sometime soon, but it won't be this offseason.

After the Steelers' season-ending win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon, Roethlisberger all but confirmed that he will be back in 2019.

Pouncey is under contract for $7 million next season, so it seems safe to say that both he and Roethlisberger will return next season.

Roethlisberger put together a so-so effort in the season finale, completing 31 of his 45 passes for 287 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Overall this season, he threw for a league-leading 5,129 yards, 34 touchdowns, and a league-worst 16 interceptions while completing 67 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 96.5.

The 36-year-old paced the league in both passing yards (good) and interceptions (bad) for the second time each in his 15-year career.

This also marks the first time since 2013 that Roethlisberger will not be headed to the Pro Bowl, which, perhaps not so coincidentally, was also the last time the Steelers did not make the playoffs.

Pittsburgh went a respectable 9-6-1 on the year, but due to the Baltimore Ravens finishing 10-6 after their win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, the Steelers missed out on the postseason.

The Steelers entered last week in first place in the AFC North, but a devastating loss to the New Orleans Saints coupled with a Ravens victory over the Los Angeles Chargers knocked them out of the top spot.

Pittsburgh had won the division in three of the last four years before falling on Sunday.
