The Pittsburgh Steelers signed Mitchell Trubisky in free agency, but that doesn't mean they're done addressing the quarterback position in the wake of Ben Roethlisberger's retirement. GM Kevin Colbert spoke to reporters Sunday and indicated that just because Trubisky was added, doesn't mean the Steelers aren't looking at quarterbacks in the first round in the 2022 NFL Draft. Via Brooke Pryor, Colbert revealed that the team has had representatives at every top QB's Pro Day this year, admitting the Steelers could “possibly” draft a quarterback.

“We've been at top quarterback pro days for the first time in a long time because we may be in a position where we have a need. Does that mean we're taking one? Possibly.”

While Colbert neither confirmed nor denied the Steelers' intentions to draft a quarterback this year, his comments certainly suggest it's entirely on the table. Whether or not Trubisky is ready to be a starting quarterback in this league, or will ever be ready, remains to be seen. There's a chance his deal with the Steelers is just a bridge between the present and their QB of the future, who could end up being drafted this year.

The Steelers have been linked to both Malik Willis and Kenny Pickett throughout the draft process. The Steelers own the No. 20 pick in the draft, which may not be a good enough pick to land them one of the top quarterbacks unless they facilitate a trade to jump up the board. The Carolina Panthers are rumored to be interested in selecting a quarterback with the sixth overall pick, so the Steelers could face competition there if they do end up going with a young arm in the draft.
