The looming question all offseason for the Pittsburgh Steelers has been who exactly would replace Ben Roethlisberger as the franchise's next quarterback. While they still have Dwayne Haskins and Mason Rudolph, many believed the Steelers could either sign another QB or draft one. Well, the answer has come.

Per Mike Garafolo, Pittsburgh is bringing in former No. 2 overall pick Mitchell Trubisky on a two-year deal:

This is definitely a bit of a surprising move because Trubisky barely took a snap last season. He served as the backup to Josh Allen on the Buffalo Bills, throwing just eight passes. Before landing in Buffalo though, Trubisky was the main man in Chicago for the Bears, but they moved on from him.

This could be a good move for the Steelers, though. The UNC product had a winning season every year in the Windy City, even going 11-3 in 2018 and throwing a career-best 24 touchdowns and over 3,200 yards. While he didn't play much in 2021, the numbers show that Trubisky is still more than capable and he knows what it takes to be a QB1.

That being said, even though he is expected to be the starter for the Steelers, the best man will win the job. Both Haskins and Rudolph will get a shot to prove their worth in training camp. Whoever ends up winning the starting job certainly has big shoes to fill though after Roethlisberger hung them up.
