There are plenty of reasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers' loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Divisional Round. However, head coach Mike Tomlin has received the most criticism for his part in their defeat.

The charismatic Tomlin has never been one to be conservative about his choice of words or play-calling during games. That became evident after Pittsburgh went for an onside kick with over two minutes left in the game. The Jaguars recovered and were ultimately able to score their game-winning points via field goal. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Tomlin stands by his decision to go for the risky attempt:

“I know analytically they probably fall in the lower percentages and things of that nature,” Tomlin said. “If I err, I’m always going to err on the side of action in an effort to win. My guys know that about me. I think more importantly them knowing that about me, they expect that from me. I don’t fear failure. I’m going to do what’s required to pursue victory, even if it comes across as unconventional. I’m certainly not going to steer away from decision-making for fear of ridicule.”

Tomlin has become well-known for his boisterous personality. It is clear that his confidence resonated with his players coming into the game. However, that was not the only questionable call he made last Sunday. Veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger made headlines after suggesting the team should have attempted a sneak on 4th and 1 during the game.

Regardless, it is clear that that the Steelers made all the wrong decisions en route to their 45-24 loss to the Jaguars. As a result, there has been plenty of speculation regarding the upcoming offseason. The team has already parted with offensive coordinator Todd Haley and there have even been rumors swirling about Tomlin's future with the team.
