Although Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict seemed to have avoided a suspension from the NFL despite his rough play in last Sunday’s showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he is not escaping the wrath of Ben Roethlisberger and company.

Burfict is being largely criticized for his hit on the head of Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, but it’s not the only one that has Pittsburgh up in arms. According to Ron Cook of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Roethlisberger is claiming that Burfict also issued a threat to hurt Steelers second-year wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster.

“He hits A.B., then, literally, as I am under center for the next play, he points at JuJu and says, ‘You’re next,’ ” Roethlisberger said. “How do you allow that stuff?”

Burfict’s track record as a dirty player is undeniable. Just last year, he received a three-game suspension for his illegal hit on fullback Anthony Sherman of the Kansas City Chiefs. He was also fined $12,154 that same year for kicking Steelers fullback Roosevelt Nix.

If anything, Burfict does have a motivation to go after Smith-Schuster. It could be remembered that the wide receiver was suspended in 2017 after giving Burfict a taste of his own medicine.

The Steelers will have to wait until Week 17 for a rematch with the Bengals.
