Everyone in the hobby knows how much Steve Aoki loves trading cards. Whether it's basketball, Pokemon, football, or baseball, you can count on the famed DJ to have these in his collection worth millions. At this point in time, it seems Aoki has expanded big time by splurging an insane amount of money on Marvel cards.

In a video shared by Goldin on Instagram, Aoki is seen examining a complete graded set of Fleer's 2015 Retro Red Precious Metal Gems Marvel cards. The catch here is that the DJ spent $225,000 in a deal brokered by Goldin Auctions.

As the video progresses, Marvel cards with Bullseye, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Hulk, Ant-Man, Elektra, and Phoenix were seen, along with a host of other characters from the comic books. Most of these are encased in PSA slabs with a few graded by SGC.

In another video posted weeks earlier by Aoki's Instagram page dedicated to cards, collectors can get a closer look at this expensive Marvel set from Fleer. In it, Aoki said that this was a crazy purchase and he hasn't spent this much money in a long time.

The whole set consists of 42 Marvel cards with each Red Precious Metal Gem insert numbered to 100 copies. Currently, the most expensive one from this set on eBay is a Wolverine card encased within an SGC 8 slab. It recently sold for $6,000. Other offerings, like a raw Gambit and BGS 8 Captain America, are worth $4,500 and $3,200, respectively.

With these figures in mind, it isn't hard to imagine how Steve Aoki could have purchased a complete set of numbered and graded Marvel cards worth $225,000. Add the fact that this particular insert is garnering a lot of hype in the market and collectors would come to a conclusion that Aoki's decision to get this set isn't as crazy as it sounds. With the ever-increasing popularity of both Marvel and the hobby, there's a pretty good chance his investment in these cards will pay off down the road.
