Tim Duncan has earned the reputation of being an extremely respectful, down to earth, and level headed guy. The long time San Antonio Spur earned this, in part, by only being ejected one time during his long, illustrious career.
His sole ejection came against the Dallas Mavericks, and to be honest, he probably should not have been tossed from the game at all. Here, look for yourself:
Joey Crawford, long time NBA referee, probably felt disrespected by Duncan laughing on the sideline, but it did not warrant a second technical foul. In a tight game between two good teams, it is difficult to justify the ejection of Duncan, who was such a pivotal player for the Spurs.
Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich also showed his displeasure with the ejection of his star, but he, somehow, managed not to get ejected himself.
It says a lot about Duncan’s character that he was only ejected one time over his 19 seasons in the league. Now that he has retired, Duncan can look back at this game and probably let out another good chuckle.
