The Minnesota Vikings took care of their business on Sunday by beating the Arizona Cardinals, 27-17, for their second win in a row and third overall this season. The Vikings, however, were bitten with the injury bug in the game, as cornerback Mike Hughes exited the game in the fourth quarter with a knee injury.

Although the Vikings have yet to announce the exact nature and extent of Hughes’ knee issue, the team fears that it’s a torn ACL, per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

The #Vikings fear CB Mike Hughes, their promising first-round draft pick, suffered a torn ACL in today's win over #Cardinals, per league sources. MRI tomorrow. Holding out hope.

In the event that the Vikings confirm that it’s an ACL injury, they are likely going to miss the rookie for the rest of the season. Minnesota used a first-round pick this year to get Hughes, whom they selected 30th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Hughes had a glowing start to his pro career. In Minnesota’s 24-16 win at home over the San Francisco 49ers back in Week 1, Hughes announced his arrival in the NFL with Hughes turning an interception into a 28-yard touchdown.

Losing Hughes would be a significant blow to the Vikings’ defense that’s been performing under preseason expectations. Minnesota entered Sunday ranked just 19th in scoring defense, 17th in total defense, and 21st against the pass.
