The Minnesota Vikings came away with a 19-9 win over the Washington Redskins on Thursday night, and while it wasn't exactly pretty, the offense got the job done.

Afterward, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer lauded running backs Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison for their respective performances.

“I always have confidence when Dalvin or Matty’s got the ball,” Zimmer said, via the Vikings' Twitter account.

Cook carried the ball 23 times for 98 yards and a touchdown, logging five catches for 73 yards. Meanwhile, Mattison recorded 61 yards off of 13 totes.

It was just the latest terrific performance for Cook, who has been one of the best running backs in the NFL thus far this season.

Through eight weeks, Cook has racked up 823 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 5.3 yards per carry. In addition, he has tallied 29 catches for 293 yards.

Mattison has not been as dominant as Cook, but the rookie has still been very effective, totaling 331 yards and a score on the ground, registering 4.9 yards per attempt.

Cook is finally capitalizing on his potential, something he was unable to do over his first couple of seasons due to injuries.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Florida State, was originally selected by Minnesota in the second round (41st pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

A torn ACL ended his rookie campaign after just four games, and last season, Cook was limited to 11 contests due to more knee issues.

The Vikings have won four games in a row and are now 6-2 on the year. They will take on the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday.
