A new development has emerged in what has been one of the most scandalous incidents in college basketball over the past few months. It is now being reported that Wichita State will be firing longtime head coach Gregg Marshall following a months-long investigation pertaining to the coach's abusive behavior.

Wichita State and Gregg Marshall are expected to part ways in the coming days, a source told CBS Sports, confirming a report from Stadium's Jeff Goodman on Tuesday night.
This narrative came into light a few months ago after news surfaced that Marshall was allegedly involved in multiple cases of both verbal and physical abuse within his team.
Former player Shaq Morris came out publicly about his encounter with Marshall, wherein the coach allegedly physically assaulted him during the 2015-16 season. Morris spoke on the record about Marshall punching him during practice — a claim that has been substantiated by multiple witnesses.
Another of Marshall's case involves former assistant coach Kyle Lindsted, who was allegedly choked by Marshall in a separate incident. Lindsted, however, has refused to comment on the altercation.
For his part, Marhsall has vehemently denied the claims, saying how he “has never physically struck a player or colleague.”
The impending firing of Marshall does not come as a surprise. It is likely that Wichita State just followed due process before finally making their decision to part ways with Marshall. He may have been an outstanding coach on paper — he led the Chargers to the Final Four in 2013 — but this is exactly the type of negative publicity that schools want to veer as far away form as possible.
