Bradley Beal has been playing at an elite level for the Washington Wizards. Unfortunately for him, his team hasn't been winning.

The same was the case for Beal and company on Friday as the All-Star shooting guard's 41-point effort proved futile in a 116-107 loss to the Boston Celtics. Beal has now gone back-to-back games with at least 40 points, but the fact that the Wizards both lost games meant that the 27-year-old was able to match an unwanted record.

Quite incidentally, it was also Beal who set the record last year. This just goes to show how consistently bad the Wizards have been. Not even Beal's superhuman efforts have been enough to lift the hapless squad.

Beal finished the loss to the Celtics with 41 points on 16-of-29 shooting from the field, including 4-of-9 from long distance, to go along with three rebounds, three assists, and a block in 38 minutes of play. But in the end, none of them mattered. The Wizards dropped to 2-7, tied with the Detroit Pistons for the worst record in the NBA.

The 27-year-old Beal kept his hot streak going against the Celtics after coming out with a career-high performance against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. The former University of Florida standout dropped a cool 60 points, but ultimately it was Joel Embiid and the Sixers who came away with the victory.

All of these point to the fact that Bradley Beal is a very good player—one of the best in the NBA, in fact—on a very bad team. Something has got to give sooner or later.
