At 5-foot-9, Isaiah Thomas is not short relative to the average man. In fact, he's right around average. However, he is significantly shorter in an NBA with an average height of around 6-foot-7. With that fact, it's understandable that Isaiah Thomas would have to do a lot more to stand out in a league of giants.

Thomas cheekily addressed his relative lack of height by dressing up as an Oompa Loompa for Halloween:

This is a hilarious take that allows him to take control of the narrative that he's too short to play basketball. It's a slight that has followed IT wherever he has gone, so it's nice to see him have fun with a part of his life that has always been his biggest problem as a basketball player.

On the basketball court, IT just made his return from thumb surgery. In his first game for the Wizards, he came off the bench to finish with 16 points, five assists, and three rebounds. What makes this feat all the more impressive is that he did all of this in under 20 minutes of game time.

Thomas' impressive start gives the Wizards a very encouraging picture. They took a risk on him after he failed to make his impact felt on the Denver Nuggets this year. It did seem for a while that he wouldn't be able to return to the form that helped the Boston Celtics make the Eastern Conference Finals due to the injuries he endured over the past couple of years.

If he keeps this up, he could be the team's Willy Wonka, along with Bradley Beal.
