WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner still remains in detainment in Russia after she was found with a weed pen back in February. To make matters worse, a Moscow court just extended her time in custody another six months, with no timetable for a return to the United States in sight. Truly shocking.

On Monday night, WNBA star A'ja Wilson, who has played with Griner on All-Star teams and with Team USA, couldn't help but get emotional after photos of Griner surfaced on social media. Via Bleacher Report:

Griner, who plays for the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, is facing up to 10 years in prison if found guilty of carrying a literal weed pen. Insane. Her trial is set to begin on Friday.

Griner's agent even reached out to both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, pleading with them to try and get a deal done to bring home the WNBA standout.

Today’s hearing was administrative in nature and not on the merits. That said, the fact remains that the U.S. Government has determined that Brittney Griner is wrongfully detained and being used as a political pawn.

The negotiation for her immediate release regardless of the legal proceedings should remain a top priority and we expect President Biden and VP Kamala Harris to do everything in their power, right now, to get a deal done to bring her home.

Bring Brittney Griner home. 130 days is far too long.
