Sixteen-time World Champion and two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is returning to the ring as manager to the FTR in AEW.

Ric Flair was last seen wrestling in a ring back in 2011 in a match against Sting on TNA. For WWE fans, his “real” final in-ring performance was his iconic retirement match against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24 in 2008. Now, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that the 16-time world champion is gearing up once again, training to wrestle for the first time in over a decade:

“Ric Flair is training to wrestle again,” Meltzer writes. “The stories about his return are accurate.”

In fact, Ric Flair himself tweeted about this, with a video of the 73-year-old veteran going over fundamentals with Jay Lethal, a wrestler he worked with back in TNA and is currently signed to AEW:

Rumors say that the Ric Flair in-ring return will be him managing the FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) in a match against The Rock ‘n' Roll Express (Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton) who will also be accompanied to the ring by “someone else.”

Ric Flair left WWE's Legends Program in 2021 last year, appearing in other promotions right after, often accompanying Andrade “El Idolo,” who performed in WWE as Andrade “Cien” Almas. El Idolo is engaged to Flair's daughter Charlotte Flair, who was ruled out with a storyline injury, dropping the SmackDown Women's Championship belt to Ronda Rousey in WrestleMania Fastlane. This was done to give Charlotte Flair time off, which she reportedly will use to prepare for her wedding with El Idolo.

As for the Nature Boy wrestling again, we hope that he would limit his appearances as a manager. While managers in wrestling usually still get a couple of bumps, we wish the 73-year-old won't be tempted to accept much larger bumps that could get him into serious medical trouble.
