With the arrival of Genshin Impact Version 2.6, Yae Miko received some changes, specifically to her Elemental Skill. Her Sesshou Sakura targeting system was changed. In the official blog post regarding this change, it read:

“Since the Version 2.6 update, we have made a series of adjustments to the enemy targeting mechanisms in Genshin Impact to optimize the gameplay experience. These include:

1. Adjustments to the mechanisms by which enemies are targeted.

2. Mass optimization to character enemy selection logic based on 1., aimed at fixing targeting issues.

The reason for this series of adjustments is that during Version 2.5, we received a substantial quantity of feedback on combat experience issues from players using Yae Miko. The main issue affecting experience was that it was unclear how Yae Miko targets enemies. In fact, this negative experience was caused by a combination of issues with both enemy and character targeting logic, and affected other enemies and characters besides Yae Miko.

For this reason, after gathering and monitoring feedback over a period of time, we arrived at the current optimization plan — namely, adjusting the mechanisms by which enemies are targeted while also adjusting the targeting logic for multiple characters. The goal of this sweeping update was to ensure that characters can correctly attack certain large enemies and to make their attacks easier to control. This plan includes a fix to Yae Miko’s Sesshou Sakura mechanism: Sesshou Sakura will now prioritize attacks on the nearest opponents within range after the fix.

Although Yae Miko’s Sesshou Sakura already included an enemy prioritization mechanism as part of its targeting strategy in V2.5, the end result was still that the targeting was impossible to control. Hence, we added some logic to prioritize nearby enemies to make her attack logic clearer and easier to control.”

However, this gave rise to problems, such as if the closest enemy was a hilichurl with a shield, Yae Miko’s Sesshou Sakura hits would deal 0 damage, due to the nature of the shield. This resulted in a revert of this targeting change.

Travelers have received an in-game mail titled “Compensation for Rollback: Fix to Yae Miko’s Targeting Mechanic.” The content of the mail reads:

“Dear Travelers,

We have made a rollback to the change to the character Yae Miko, whereby her Sesshou Sakura ability prioritizes attacks on the nearest opponent within range. After the rollback, Sesshou Sakura will randomly attack an enemy within range. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused in your gaming experience.”

The mail also came with 100 Primogems as compensation. Genshin Impact developers HoYoverse said that they will be looking to further optimize the performance of Yae Miko’s Sesshou Sakura.
